Family Friendly Black Hills Campgrounds

The Black Hills of South Dakota is an area of the United States that is like no other.  It's unique landscape draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and it is home to some fabulous family attractions like Mount Rushmore, The Badlands National Park, and Devil’s Tower National Monument just to name a few.  It's landscape is perfect for camping, which is why you will find several great campgrounds in the area.  Here are three of the most popular family campgrounds in South Dakota’s Black Hills.

The Flinstones Bedrock City Theme Park and Camping Resort

The Flinstones Bedrock City Theme Park and Camping Resort offers camping accommodations for tent camping, to full hook-up RV sites, and camping cabins for those who prefer to sleep indoors.

The campground at Bedrock City is set on a hill looking down into the town of Bedrock, and offers amazing views of the area.  The campground offers laundry facilities, play areas for the kids, a heated swimming pool, an arcade, and miniature golf.

A site with no hookups cost $21.50, an electric site is $26 per night, a full hookup site is $28 per night, and cabins are $44 per night.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Mountain Resort RV Park & Cabins

The Rafter J Bar Ranch Mountain Resort RV Park & Cabins has a history as rich as the Black Hills themselves.  The ranch, which was a working ranch up until 1964, was also one of the stagecoach stops along the Cheyenne to Deadwood Trail during the Gold Rush, and also was also part of a mining claim in 1886, which left mining tunnels running around the ground which are still existent today.  In fact three buildings during the ranch’s time as a stage coach stop are still standing today, and are open to visitors of the campground.

The campground itself offers a heated swimming pool, hot tub, bike trails, fishing, a playground, hiking trails, satellite TV hookups, wi-fi service, a snack bar, a game room, and laundry facilities.

Site rates at Rafter J Bar Ranch Mountain Resort RV Park & Cabins range in price from $25.95 to $50.95 per night for campsites, and cabins range in price from $42.95 to $178.95 per night.

Mystery Mountain Resort

The Mystery Mountain Resort is one of the premier luxury campgrounds in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  The resort offers sites for tent camping, full hook-up RV sites, and cabins.
At Mystery Mountain Resort campground guests can enjoy a heated pool, adult only hot tub, free wi-fi, a playground, mini golf, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and laundry facilities.
